For this role, you must have experience of financial management, proven financial aptitude with experience producing reports. Being fully or partly AAT qualified will also be an advantage. In this role, you will manage post-award finances for research and trading projects, produce financial reports and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Duties:
• Manage post-award finances for a portfolio of research projects, ensuring compliance with funder and university regulations, providing regular financial reports and advice to PIs, and supporting effective budget management and forecasting.
• Coordinate audits, ensuring deadlines are met and compliance demonstrated; liaise with auditors and internal teams, verify expenditure and documentation, and address funder queries.
• Oversee invoicing, quarterly grant reporting, and forecasts; liaise with Research Accounts and Project Managers to ensure timely and accurate financial transactions.
• Propose and implement process improvements, maintain up-to-date procedure documentation, and ensure smooth operational workflows.
• Run and maintain key departmental finance reports (e.g., forecasting tools, allocation reports, commitment reports), requiring advanced Excel skills, and train team members to ensure continuity.
• Lead the close-out process for ending projects, ensuring budgets are fully utilised and compliant; manage accounting for the annual Research Recognition Exercise and other tasks as assigned.
Selection Criteria:
• Full or part AAT qualified (or equivalent)
• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
• Ability to solve complex problems using appropriate tools and communicate solutions effectively to stakeholders.
• Experience of financial management
• Proven financial aptitude with level of attention to details and the ability to provide clear and concise financial reports.
• High level of IT skills including advanced use of Excel
