About the role
For this role, you will need experience of developing database-driven websites or web-apps, experience of extending website functionality by using a high level language like Python, Ruby ir PHP and have used an MVC based web application framework.

Duties:

Lead the design, development, and enhancement of the Department’s website, ensuring functionality aligns with business needs and technical requirements.
Develop and maintain integrations between the website and internal systems, including APIs for secure data exchange and interaction with CMS and student administration systems.
Ensure the website meets relevant security, data protection, and accessibility standards, while optimising for analytics and performance monitoring.
Support the migration of web applications from Web2py to Django, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
Provide support and training to departmental staff on web-based tools, CMS usage, and lecture capture software (Panopto), including developing best practices and procedures.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define web strategy and project scope, and contribute to the continuous improvement and integration of business systems.

Selection criteria:

The ability to write well-structured specification documents, plans and user documentation;
Awareness of website design and usability best practice
Experience of developing database-driven websites or web-apps using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and SQL
Experience of extending website functionality using a high level language (e.g. Python, Ruby, or PHP)
Use of an MVC based web application framework, such as Django, web2py, AngularJS, or VueJS
Ability to deploy and manage code using version control software such as Git or Subversion
Experience of integrating and analysing data generated by Google Analytics
Ability to define specifications and manage the delivery of database based projects
Be familiar with current web development and media production applications and technologies.
