We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician Assistant to join our vibrant and supportive technical team within one of our centrally based departments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our busy research laboratories. You will assist with general housekeeping, equipment cleaning, inventory management, and help ensure that all laboratory procedures align with our high standards of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with general laboratory upkeep, including cleaning and decontamination of equipment, restocking consumables, and supporting waste management.

Support the laboratory technician by preparing culture media, buffers, and other essential reagents.

Operate basic laboratory equipment (e.g. autoclaves) after appropriate training.

Help maintain accurate inventories of chemicals and equipment, including data entry into LabCup.

Report any health and safety incidents or equipment issues promptly.

Support the relocation and setup of laboratories, including packing and unpacking equipment and materials.

Maintain accurate records for risk assessments, SOPs, audits, and other documentation.
Essential requirements:

Knowledge of biological sciences or a related field.

Previous experience working in a laboratory or technical environment.

Experience in maintaining and organising laboratory equipment.

Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft 365 applications.

A good understanding of health and safety practices within a technical environment.
