We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to oversee the smooth and effective operation of the Faculty’s administrative, governance, and operational activities. This role involves staff management, facilities and IT oversight, committee servicing, and supporting organisational change within a complex academic environment.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £20.77 per hour + holiday pay
Key Duties:
- Line manage the Faculty Office Manager and Operations Assistant
- Oversee Faculty Office functions, including governance, committees, events, Faculty membership and academic visitors
- Act as Departmental Safety Officer, managing Health and Safety within the Faculty
- Manage building-related matters, including office allocation and representation on the Building Management Committee
- Oversee IT provision, acting as liaison with the IT Shared Service and maintaining equipment records
- Oversee casual worker arrangements, ensuring accurate records in liaison with HR Shared Services
- Support EDI activity, including acting as secretary to the EDI Committee
- Manage Faculty committee structures, servicing key committees and maintaining meeting schedules
- Coordinate Faculty communications, including staff handbooks and the Faculty intranet
- Support and manage operational change following the move to the Schwarzman Centre, reviewing and documenting processes
- Build strong working relationships across the Faculty, Division and external partners
Selection Criteria:
- Honours degree or equivalent experience with strong analytical skills
- Significant administrative and management experience in higher education or a comparable environment
- Proven experience of line management and effective delegation
- Ability to resolve problems creatively and work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with discretion in handling confidential matters
- Excellent organisational and decision-making skills, particularly under pressure
- High level of IT literacy, including MS Office, spreadsheets, databases, and web content management
