We are seeking a customer-focused IT & AV Support Assistant to provide technical support across teaching, meeting and event spaces. This role combines first-line IT support, audio-visual assistance, equipment management and user training within a busy academic environment.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £14.98-£16.92 per hour + holiday pay
Key Duties:
- Act as the first point of contact for AV and IT support requests via the helpdesk
- Log, manage and resolve support tickets, escalating issues where required
- Support staff, students and visitors in the use of teaching spaces, meeting rooms and AV equipment
- Provide technical support for lectures, conferences, meetings and events
- Assist with lecture capture, recording, editing and media processing activities
- Support Zoom, Microsoft Teams and other collaboration platforms
- Assist with the installation, configuration and maintenance of AV systems
- Maintain inventories of IT and AV equipment and identify assets requiring replacement
- Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides and support materials
- Deliver basic user training and contribute to continuous service improvement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues on infrastructure upgrades and technology projects
Selection Criteria:
- Experience in an IT and/or AV support role
- Strong knowledge of AV technologies, including presentation, recording and streaming systems
- Experience supporting Zoom, Microsoft Teams and similar collaboration platforms
- Excellent customer service and technical support skills
- Good knowledge of Windows, macOS and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience troubleshooting IT and AV systems
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
- Experience producing technical documentation and user guides
