About the role

Are you an experienced administrator with a passion for student support and academic administration? Do you thrive in a dynamic, collegiate environment where no two days are the same? We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our College Office team as Deputy Academic Registrar.

About the Role

This is a vital and varied role within the College Office, supporting the Academic Registrar and wider team in the delivery of outstanding student and academic services at the college. The candidate will act as Deputy for the Academic Registrar during absences and will lead on key aspects of academic administration, student support, data management, and event coordination.

You will oversee the smooth administration of the student lifecycle—from matriculation to graduation—monitor academic progress, manage student records, and ensure compliance with University and College regulations. You’ll also provide direct support to students, manage welfare referrals, and act as a key liaison with University departments and services.

In addition, you’ll lead on various funding schemes, academic awards and prizes, and play a central role in College events including matriculation, induction, and graduation. You’ll also manage a small team, fostering a collaborative and supportive working culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Academic Registrar and act as the main point of contact in their absence.

  • Manage core student administrative processes, including progression, assessments, and milestones for research students.

  • Provide academic and welfare support, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Administer and support College committees, including acting as Secretary to the Academic Committee.

  • Lead on the planning and delivery of major academic events (e.g. induction, matriculation, graduation).

  • Oversee the management of student grants, awards, and College Office finances (within delegated authority).

  • Maintain accurate student records and identify opportunities to improve systems and processes.

  • Line manage the College Office Administrator and Assistant, supporting their development and workload planning.

  • Coordinate events and support services for student partners and families.

Selection Criteria

  • Significant administrative experience in a student-facing role, ideally in a Higher Education environment.

  • Proven experience of line management, team leadership, and performance development.

  • Demonstrable experience of student support and welfare casework.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.

  • Experience managing events and committee servicing.

  • Proficiency in data systems (e.g. eVision) and a strong understanding of data protection principles.
