We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Facilitator to provide expert support to researchers throughout the development and submission of grant applications. This role is central to fostering research excellence by helping to secure funding, ensure compliance, and strengthen proposals for success.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £20.77 per hour + holiday pay
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for applicants, collaborators, and research services throughout the grant application process.
- Keep up to date with funding opportunities and proactively share relevant calls with researchers.
- Monitor national and international funding trends to inform strategy and planning.
- Advise on funder policies, university procedures, and proposal preparation.
- Coordinate all aspects of costing, compliance, and internal review for funding applications.
- Support applicants in drafting and refining non-technical sections of proposals and arranging peer reviews.
- Assist with interview and panel preparation and ensure smooth transitions from pre-award to post-award stages.
- Liaise with research services, funders, and collaborators to progress contracts efficiently and assess associated risks.
- Maintain accurate internal records of submissions and awards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of pre-award processes, record-keeping, and reporting.
- Deliver funder briefings, training sessions, and written materials to support research development.
Selection Criteria:
- A degree in a science subject or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to draft, edit, and present clear, accurate information.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively across all levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, prioritise effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
- Confident in giving constructive feedback and communicating critical opinions diplomatically.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex contractual or policy documents.
- High levels of tact, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online research tools, with an aptitude for learning new systems.
