About the role

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Estates Manager to lead the strategic management, maintenance, and development of our buildings and physical resources. This is a managerial role requiring strong leadership, project management, and financial oversight to ensure the estate is safe, efficient, and fit for the future.

The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £16.92 per hour + holiday pay

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to strategic planning for the estate, developing and implementing short-, medium-, and long-term maintenance and development plans.
  • Lead the planning, management, and delivery of estates projects, including maintenance, refurbishment, and capital works.
  • Oversee a comprehensive planned and reactive maintenance programme to ensure all buildings meet safety and compliance standards.
  • Manage contractor relationships, ensuring delivery within time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Lead and develop a skilled maintenance team, fostering a professional, collaborative, and safety-conscious working culture.
  • Support budget planning and management, ensuring value for money in all procurement and operational activities.
  • Maintain accurate estates data and provide regular reporting to support decision-making and investment planning.
  • Promote and uphold health and safety standards across all estate operations, ensuring full statutory compliance.
  • Drive environmental sustainability initiatives and contribute to the development of an environmentally responsible estate.

Selection Criteria:

  • Proven management experience in an estates, facilities, or property environment.
  • A strong record in delivering estates development and maintenance programmes within financial and time constraints.
  • Demonstrable experience leading teams and managing change effectively.
  • Experience in capital and operational budget planning and control.
  • Comprehensive understanding of property compliance, legislation, and health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong project management, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Financially astute with sound commercial awareness and an eye for value for money.
  • Proficient IT user, particularly Microsoft Excel and data reporting tools.
  • Educated to degree level or with equivalent professional experience.
  • Commitment to sustainability, high professional integrity, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
