We are seeking a Facilities Assistant to join our dedicated Facilities Management team. This varied and hands-on role is ideal for someone with a practical mindset, strong organisational skills, and a proactive approach to maintenance and support tasks. You will play a key role in helping us protect the people, collections, and infrastructure of the University department
Key Responsibilities
As our Facilities Assistant, your duties will include:

Representing the department and the Facilities team with professionalism and a customer-focused attitude.

Assisting in emergency situations to support safety and security.
-
Conducting routine maintenance tasks (e.g. lamp replacement, utility meter readings, minor repairs).

Reporting faults and maintaining accurate records.
-
Providing occasional support in the post room and helping with deliveries or portering.

Assisting the on-site Engineer and Handyman.
-
Responding to maintenance requests independently and efficiently.

Liaising with Estates Services and supervising external contractors.

Ensuring safe use of equipment and adhering to all relevant health and safety procedures.

Supporting other team members during busy periods or staff absence.

Participating in staff training, appraisals, and ongoing development.
Essential Criteria:

Experience performing practical maintenance tasks.

The ability to carry tools, materials, and equipment to job locations.

Comfort working at height or in confined spaces.

A positive attitude towards flexible working, including occasional unsocial hours.
