We are seeking a highly organised and customer-focused Accommodation Manager to oversee student room allocations, manage College guest rooms, and ensure smooth, compliant, and efficient accommodation operations throughout the year.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 4 weeks with a pay rate of £17.18 per hour + holiday pay
Key Duties:
- Manage student bedroom applications, allocations, and offers, including the annual room ballot
- Maintain high occupancy rates by coordinating room allocation for students and Junior Research Fellows and liaising with colleagues across the College
- Communicate clearly with students and staff regarding applications, room availability, transfers, and voids
- Support Finance with rent collection where required
- Manage the Accommodation Inbox and respond to queries promptly and professionally
- Maintain booking software, produce usage and vacancy reports, and identify trends or concerns
- Lead on updating and managing the SALTO key card access system in partnership with SOCIT and the Lodge
- Oversee budgets and procurement for furniture, white goods, and fittings; maintain inventories and compliance data (e.g., PAT testing)
- Manage guest rooms during term time and support College conferences and events
- Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance to ensure quick room turnarounds and completion of checks
- Ensure all accommodation procedures comply with UUK Code of Practice, housing law, data protection and internal policies
- Issue licence agreements, monitor compliance, and take action where required
- Support student wellbeing, working within College policies and procedures
- Promote sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction and sustainable travel
Selection Criteria:
- Degree or equivalent, or relevant professional experience
- Experience providing advice on student accommodation and managing associated administration
- Experience working with booking systems (hospitality or HE preferred)
- Strong data management and reporting skills
- Customer service experience with a professional and solutions-focused approach
- Experience working in Higher Education or a similar setting
- Ability to prioritise workloads and make timely, measured decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
- Able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Strong understanding of customer care, equality, diversity, inclusion, confidentiality and boundaries
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with influencing skills
- Flexible and adaptable approach, especially during peak periods and College events
