We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused HR Policy Officer to support the work of the Policy Team. This role plays a key part in panel administration, policy development, governance support, and information management, working closely with senior colleagues across the University.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £25.19 per hour + holiday pay
Key Duties:
- Manage the operation of Statute XII panels, including maintaining the panel member pool, arranging elections and training, and ensuring accurate record keeping
- Convene hearings in line with Regulations, coordinating timetables, venues, equipment, hospitality and communications
- Act as a central point of contact for panel processes, coordinating correspondence and escalating matters where required
- Manage applications and submissions to panels, ensuring timely consideration by Chairs and advisors
- Undertake note-taking for panels following appropriate training
- Review, update and restructure HR policies in line with legislative changes and website migration requirements
- Support the Head of Employee Relations with records management, data analysis and delegated responsibilities
- Act as main contact for Freedom of Information requests, coordinating responses and maintaining records
- Organise and support meetings with Trade Union representatives, including preparing papers and minute taking
- Support completion of the twice-yearly Risk Management Report and follow-up activity

- Ability to quickly develop a strong understanding of HR processes and University policy
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly in a range of styles
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Proven discretion and ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Teams and Excel
- Understanding of employment law
- Experience supporting governance processes and committees
