We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Officer to deliver a high-quality HR service across the department, providing expert advice, overseeing recruitment and compliance, and supporting managers and staff throughout the employee lifecycle.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £18.80 per hour + holiday pay
Key Duties:

Advise managers and staff on HR policies, procedures and employment law

Support change management and straightforward employee relations cases

Oversee recruitment and selection processes, including drafting job descriptions and adverts

Prepare contracts and ensure right-to-work, visa and pre-employment compliance

Develop and update departmental HR policies and deliver HR briefings

Monitor absence, probation, appraisal and payroll processes

Provide HR reports to senior management and contribute to workforce planning

Line manage and develop HR team members

Ensure compliance with University policies and UK legislation
Selection Criteria:

Experience delivering HR advisory support in a complex organisation, including experience with using PeopleXD

Strong knowledge of UK employment law

Experience managing recruitment and compliance processes

Ability to coach and support managers effectively

Experience line managing or supervising HR staff

Strong organisational and analytical skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to balance strategic input with operational delivery
