About the role

We are looking for someone with solid experience in hard facilities maintenance, including compliance checks, planned and reactive works, painting and decorating, contractor liaison, and safe working practices. In this role, you will help maintain buildings and facilities through a mix of hands-on repairs, inspections, helpdesk coordination and day-to-day support across a complex and sensitive environment.

Duties:

Carry out planned and reactive building maintenance across several sites, including inspections, basic repairs, painting and minor plumbing works.
Complete building compliance checks such as fire door and lift checks, ensuring work is carried out in line with University policies and procedures.
Monitor and manage maintenance requests through the helpdesk system, liaising with internal teams, Estates Services and external contractors through to completion.
Support the safe delivery of works on site by following and contributing to risk assessments and method statements, and overseeing contractor compliance where required.
Assist with the upkeep of facilities systems and equipment, including the workshop, building management system, lighting controls and specialist access equipment.
Build effective working relationships across the department and wider University, supporting projects and ad hoc maintenance tasks in sensitive public spaces.

Selection criteria:

Experience working in Hard-FM (maintenance/ facilities/ construction). 
Experience of carrying out compliance checks, pre-planned maintenance and reactive works. 
Experience of Painting and Decorating.
Experience of responding to building emergencies, either alone or part of a team. 
Experience of working with external contractors. 
Demonstrable organisational skills with the ability to proactively plan and efficiently carry out work. 
The ability to work alone and be self-motivated, and equally enjoy working as a team. 
Good IT and computer skills with experience of using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. 
A good understanding of CDM 2015 and Health and Safety practices.
