We are seeking a Temporary Assistant Safety Officer to support a busy Safety team during a particularly demanding period. The role is primarily on-site. Starting asap for approximately 12 weeks in the first instance.
Essential Criteria:
- PhD/DPhil in Chemistry or related subject, or equivalent lab-based experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Good IT skills (MS Office).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Duties:
- Provide day-to-day safety advice for laboratory and office-based work.
- Advise on chemical safety and COSHH compliance.
- Assist with hazardous waste management and disposal.
- Support risk assessments, lab rules, and safety training.
- Deliver safety inductions and maintain training records.
- Conduct safety inspections and support audits and fire risk assessments.
