We’re seeking a Data Manager to lead the organisation, integrity, and delivery of research data across multiple projects. You’ll take ownership of data systems, workflows, and quality processes, working closely with researchers and collaborators to ensure data is accurate, secure, and accessible throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties
• Oversee the management, structure, and governance of research data across projects
• Maintain and optimise data systems, databases, and documentation standards
• Manage and monitor data processing workflows, resolving issues and improving processes
• Lead data quality assurance, validation, and query resolution activities
• Ensure secure preparation, handling, and transfer of datasets in line with governance requirements
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to track data deliverables and timelines
• Maintain clear documentation, trackers, and reporting on data status and project progress
• Troubleshoot data and system issues, escalating or resolving as appropriate
Essential Requirements
• Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
• Strong experience managing complex datasets and data systems
• Proficiency in Python, R, and command line environments
• Experience with cloud or high-performance computing platforms
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and work effectively with research teams
Desirable
• Experience building or managing data pipelines (e.g. Nextflow)
• Knowledge of database design and management
• Experience working in secure research environments (e.g. DNAnexus, Terra)
• Familiarity with genomics or biological datasets
• Experience contributing to research publications
