About the role

We are seeking a creative and organised Engagement and Content Producer to develop and deliver engaging digital and print content that promotes the Museum’s public programme, supports audience engagement across social media and the website, and contributes to the successful delivery of events and communications activities.

The position is set to commence asap and will be full-time (36.5 hours per week) for 12 weeks (with a pay rate of £16.92 per hour + holiday pay).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promotional materials: create digital and print content and use it to promote the Museum’s public programme. This will include posters, flyers, newsletters, Museum trails and guides, wayfaring signage etc.

  • Social media: create and publish social media posts promoting activities at the Museum and showcasing our research and collections, working with the Head of Public Engagement & Programming and the curatorial team.

  • Website: maintain the History of Science Museum website, creating promotional pages and updating existing content. Support the Head of Public Engagement & Programming with the website migration project.

  • Events: work with public engagement colleagues to organise and promote events for family and adult audiences.

  • Reporting: maintain costs on the team budget tracker, contributing activity updates to monthly staff meetings and other ad hoc reports.

  • Additional duties: support the Head of Public Engagement & Programming with any other additional tasks and duties commensurate with the role.

Selection Criteria:

  • Organisational skills: proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver them on time, on budget and to specification. Ability to remain resilient and flexible under pressure.
  • Promotion and communication: experience of writing and delivering promotional content and communicating effectively across a range of media and communication channels.
  • Content creation: experience of creating print and digital content using design packages (e.g. Canva) and liaising with printers.
  • Digital: experience of updating a website Content Management System (CMS) or equivalent, and of creating content for social media channels.
