We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Officer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with strong financial administration skills who can ensure accurate processing of transactions, support compliance with financial regulations, and contribute to the efficient management of payments, expenses, and bursary-related processes.
The position is set to commence asap and will be full time (36.5 hours per week) for 12 weeks (with a pay rate of £16.92 per hour + holiday pay).
Main Duties
- Ensure all financial transactions are carried out in accordance with the University’s Finance Regulations, Policies, and procedures, as well as ensuring compliance with all necessary external regulations and requirements.
- To have expertise and experience in Oracle Financial systems to undertake financial transactions including; requisitions, purchase orders, receipting of goods, payment of invoices, journal entries and sales invoicing.
- Understanding of VAT regulations as they apply to the Department and ensuring that VAT exemption is claimed wherever possible.
- To process Staff and Students expenses via the online SAP Concur expense system, general public expenses (Non SAP concur expenses), Payment Request Forms (PRFs) and student bursary payments. To ensure that they are processed in a timely fashion, are allowable, have appropriate backing documentation and are properly coded.
- Preparing Bursaries payments forms to be approved by Senior Officer / Finance Manager, raising Purchase orders for College Fees.

- Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Experience of Financial Administration
- A team player who works well within a team but is also adept at working independently
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills and ability to work to deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy
