We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Laboratory & Facilities Technician to join a University of Oxford department based in Headington. This is a full-time temporary position for an initial 12-week assignment, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate equipment servicing, maintenance, and repairs.
- Support the day-to-day operation of laboratory and facilities services.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, including cleaning, sterilisation, and quality checks.
- Monitor and order laboratory and building consumables.
- Liaise with contractors, Estates Services, and suppliers.
- Carry out regular building and laboratory inspections to maintain high standards of health and safety.
- Assist with inductions, training, and the preparation of operating procedures.
- Support the Departmental Safety Officer with Health & Safety compliance, including COSHH and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- An Advanced City & Guilds, HNC, HND, NVQ Level 4, or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a laboratory, facilities, or building maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH and Manual Handling.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and use initiative in a busy environment.
