The Role

Working as part of a small maintenance team, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring buildings, equipment and facilities are maintained to a high standard.

  • Undertake planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with the portering and movement of furniture and equipment.
  • Complete basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical and building fabric repairs.

  • Undertake statutory and compliance-related checks and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete fire safety checks, including fire doors, emergency lighting and fire alarm checks.
  • Carry out water and water hygiene checks and maintain appropriate records.
  • Support other routine compliance checks, including COSHH and PUWER.
  • Use maintenance helpdesk and IT systems to manage maintenance requests and record completed work and compliance activity.
  • Work in accordance with risk assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work.
  • Liaise with contractors and provide access or chaperoning support where required.
  • Identify defects, hazards and maintenance issues, reporting or resolving them appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively within a small team and support colleagues during periods of absence or increased workload.

About You

We are looking for a practical, proactive and reliable Maintenance Operative with proven experience working across a varied building environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in a hands-on maintenance role.
  • Experience undertaking both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • A broad understanding of building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical and fabric repairs.
  • The ability to carry out routine inspections and compliance checks.

Please be aware that all candidates need to be able to start work immediately and must be able to work on site if required to do so.
