We are seeking an enthusiastic and versatile Graduate Associate to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining administration, communications, research and event support, while gaining valuable experience in alumni engagement, fundraising and development activities within a collegiate environment.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be from 36.5 hours per week for 12 weeks (with a pay rate of £14.98 per hour + holiday pay).
Main Duties:
- Providing administrative support for the Development Office, including support with key office mailings and responding to general enquiries via email, telephone and letter.
- Writing news articles about alumni for the College’s website, printed and e-publications, as well as helping with planning the content of publications.
- Supporting content generation for Development Office social media platforms.
- Assisting with database management, including updating and cleaning records, finding ‘lost’ alumni, and running queries to facilitate the work of other members of the team.
- Managing and organising the office environment.
- Supporting fundraising campaigns such as brochures, Giving Days and Telethons, including elements of data work, copywriting and project management.
- Researching trusts and foundations whose remits cover the key aims of the College, and assisting other members of the Development team in writing grant proposals.
- Working with volunteers and managing a programme of student involvement in development activities.
- Supporting the administration of College scholarships, prizes and other awards – as this relates to donor stewardship.
- Undertaking research in accordance with office priorities.
- Supporting the delivery of college events and assisting guests at events, which may require some work outside of normal office hours.
- Attendance at events and networking included as part of the above.
- Any other responsibilities commensurate with the role.
Selection Criteria:
- Educated to degree level.
- Excellent written and spoken English with an ability to tailor the tone and content to different audiences.
- Strong numeracy skills and ability to confidently handle financial data.
- A high level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, with great proofreading skills.
- Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes, including Word and Excel.
- High standards of presentation and a professional manner.
- Strong self-motivation and initiative, alongside an ability to work well with others as part of a team.
- Ability to think creatively within the parameters of a given context.
- Professionalism, tact and discretion in handling confidential information.
- The ability to take the initiative, be proactive, prioritise and work accurately under time constraints.
