Working Pattern: 6-week rotating shift pattern, including early shifts (07:00–15:30), late shifts (14:00–22:30) and weekend working
We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Facilities Support Assistant to support the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of buildings and facilities. This hands-on role combines customer service, security, room set-up, building checks, cleaning and general facilities support.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £14.51 per hour + holiday pay
Key Duties:
- Provide a professional and helpful service to staff, visitors and other building users
- Carry out general building and facilities tasks within appropriate competency levels
- Set up meeting rooms, lecture spaces and events, including furniture and AV equipment
- Undertake reception and security duties, including ID checks, opening and locking buildings
- Complete routine building checks and report maintenance or safety issues
- Receive, record and distribute post, deliveries and goods
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining internal and external areas
- Support health and safety requirements, including COSHH and manual handling procedures
- Identify areas requiring maintenance or improvements and report them appropriately
- Use and learn facilities management systems such as Planon
- Liaise with suppliers and service providers as required
- Provide flexible cover across facilities activities and undertake relevant training
Selection Criteria:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Professional and courteous approach when dealing with staff and visitors
- Basic IT skills, including email and internet applications
- Ability and willingness to learn building and facilities management systems
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a busy environment
- Flexible approach to shift patterns, including early, late and weekend working
- Ability to undertake practical and manual facilities duties
- Willingness to complete relevant training, including AV, first aid, manual handling and security procedures
