We are seeking an experienced Finance & Operations Manager to provide financial leadership and support the effective delivery of wider business operations. The role combines financial management, forecasting, team leadership, compliance and operational oversight within a complex environment.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £20.77 per hour + holiday pay
Key Duties:
- Lead month-end financial processes, including accruals, prepayments, journals and reconciliations
- Produce management reports, analysing financial performance, variances and emerging risks
- Coordinate forecasting and financial planning with budget holders and senior stakeholders
- Monitor budgets and cost centres, investigating variances and recommending appropriate action
- Review and approve financial transactions in line with delegated authority and financial regulations
- Oversee financial adjustments, recharges and controls to maintain accurate financial records
- Provide expert financial advice and guidance to budget holders and colleagues
- Lead and manage the Finance team, setting priorities, managing performance and supporting staff development
- Maintain financial controls and support compliance and assurance activities
- Deputise for senior management across wider business and operational matters when required
- Support operational activities across areas such as HR, research, estates, governance and health and safety
- Identify and escalate significant financial or operational risks with clear recommendations
Selection Criteria:
- Substantial financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
- Strong knowledge of financial systems and processes, including Oracle Financials
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify and manage financial risks
- Experience presenting financial information and providing advice to senior and non-finance stakeholders
- Advanced spreadsheet, financial systems and data-analysis skills
- Proven ability to manage complex and competing priorities with a high degree of autonomy
- Experience leading and developing finance staff and coordinating team workloads
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to quickly understand and take ownership of unfamiliar operational areas
- Strong commercial and organisational awareness with the ability to understand wider operational priorities and interdependencies
