About the role

📣 Temporary Communications Officer – Oxford University

📍 Central Oxford | 🗓️ Early June – End of July | 💼 Part-time, 30 hours per week

You must have demonstrable experience of contributing to digital communications activities and social media content and experience running events.

🔍 What you’ll be doing:

  • Writing, editing, and proofreading engaging content for a variety of platforms including websites, blogs, newsletters, and social media.
  • Supporting the delivery of strategic communications plans and campaigns aligned with the University’s goals.
  • Leading the creation of multimedia and promotional materials that adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Managing website updates and generating fresh, relevant content ideas.
  • Monitoring and evaluating digital communications using analytics tools to improve future strategies.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners (e.g., designers, suppliers) to maintain a high standard of communications output.
  • Staying informed on GDPR, PECR, and other key regulations, ensuring all communications are compliant.
  • Being an active contributor to the University’s Communications Community of Practice

What we’re looking for:

  • A good general level of education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience in digital communications and social media management.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with communications tools (e.g., CMS, Canva/Adobe tools, video/audio editing, etc.).
  • Event organisation and administrative coordination skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and ethical communications practices.
  • Awareness of how digital trends, including AI, are shaping modern communications.
