We are seeking a well-organised and safety-conscious Lab Technician to support the smooth day-to-day operation of one of our research laboratories. This is a vital hands-on role, ensuring a safe, well-stocked, and efficient environment for researchers.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £18.43 per hour + holiday pay
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventory of chemicals and equipment; monitor stock and place orders as needed.
- Manage hazardous waste and follow safety protocols rigorously.
- Monitor lab equipment and gas levels, and respond to alerts.
- Oversee electronic booking systems and researcher activity logs.
- Ensure lab cleanliness and housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Receive and distribute deliveries.
- Provide frontline support to researchers, resolving routine queries and escalating complex issues appropriately.
- Follow and promote all health and safety procedures, seeking guidance when needed.
Selection Criteria:
- Degree or equivalent experience in Chemistry or a related scientific/technical subject.
- Experience working safely in a wet lab environment with a sound understanding of potential hazards.
- Strong organisational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to run a lab day-to-day.
- Excellent customer service skills with the confidence to escalate safety concerns appropriately.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
