To apply for this role you must have:
- To assist the planning and coordinating activities relating to telephony handset installations and to support basic set up, testing and end user training.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £20.77 per hour + holiday pay
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist the planning and coordinating activities relating to telephony handset installations and to support basic set up, testing and end user training.
- Support the Technical Lead and project team in liaising with University colleges and departments to ensure timely and compliant installations.
- Participate in on-site activities including hardware preparation, troubleshooting, and ‘floor walking’ to ensure installations are agreed in accordance with delivery plans.
- Maintain accurate records of hardware stock, ensuring equipment is received and delivered safely, and hardware is labelled and assigned correctly for delivery.
- Ensure hardware is installed and kept safe and secure, taking note of health and safety issues and disposed of safely and in accordance with relevant legislation and University policies.
- Provide help to, and work closely with, other IT Services Teams, as directed.
- Work closely with project team members to ensure smooth delivery of the telephony services.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change in order to ensure that the project delivers effectively.
Selection Criteria:
- A good standard of education (minimum GCSEs or equivalent) and/or relevant experience in technical support or installation role(s), telephony preferred.
- Knowledge of operating systems particularly MS365 and Teams
- Ability to work methodically and accurately in a busy technical environment.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, be personable and have the ability to work with staff at all levels in the University. Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service in a professional manner.
- A willingness to work as part of a team with an approachable and helpful attitude, and capable of taking a lead role in a team when required.
- Good at problem resolution. Able to work on own initiative, but not afraid to take advice or escalate as necessary and to prioritise multiple, and often conflicting, demands.
- A desire to learn technical processes and apply training to real-world scenarios. Capacity to learn and adapt quickly to new systems, tools or processes.
- Reliable, adaptable, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills, including familiarity with networking concepts.
