We are seeking a committed and student-focused Student Funding Administrator to provide high-quality information, advice, and administrative support relating to government student finance and University financial assistance schemes.
This role sits at the centre of the collegiate University and plays a vital part in supporting prospective and current students, particularly those experiencing financial difficulty. The postholder will work closely with colleagues across colleges, admissions, and central services to ensure accurate advice, effective administration, and a consistently excellent service.
Key responsibilities
Student finance information, advice and guidance

Provide accurate, up-to-date information on government and University funding to prospective and on-course students and staff across the collegiate University.

Maintain and contribute to University webpages, internal guides, external publications, and materials for Open Days and related events.

Handle enquiries from students, parents, and staff via shared email accounts and other communication channels, ensuring a professional, timely, and supportive response.

Assist with the delivery of student finance presentations at Open Days and to key partners in colleges and Undergraduate Admissions.

Maintain a strong working knowledge of government student finance policies, regulations, and processes, including those of the Student Loans Company and the four regional funding bodies.

Undertake detailed casework to support students experiencing difficulties with their funding entitlement, applying regulations to resolve complex issues.
University financial assistance administration

Provide information, advice, and guidance on University financial assistance schemes and associated support, in line with student eligibility.

Administer the University’s financial assistance schemes, including managing payments to students, maintaining online application forms and guidance notes, and monitoring scheme finances.

Make recommendations to ensure funds are allocated and disbursed in line with relevant regulations and policies.

Act as Secretary to the University Financial Assistance Committee, processing applications, preparing papers, and gathering and reporting applicant data.

Work with fellow Student Funding Administrators to assess students’ income and expenditure in accordance with University guidance, identify funding shortfalls, and make award recommendations.

Oversee the repayment of University financial assistance loans, maintaining close contact with loan holders and liaising with the Finance Division.
Selection criteria
Essential:

Direct and proven experience of working with student funding issues within UK higher education

Experience of maintaining and developing effective administrative systems, with the ability to identify and implement improvements.

A good standard of numeracy and confidence in undertaking quantitative work.
