We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Communications Assitant to join a department within Oxford University. This position offers an exciting opportunity to support a busy department where you’ll shape and deliver engaging content, events, and campaigns that connect with diverse audiences.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be Full time (8am - 6pm) for an initial duration of 8 weeks at 15 hours p/w.
Duties:
• Deliver aspects of departmental communication strategies with professionalism and creativity.
• Write, edit, and proofread a variety of materials, including newsletters, blog posts, briefings, and reports.
• Coordinate digital and internal communication channels to ensure strategic, data-driven delivery and best practices.
• Develop and maintain online communications, including intranets, websites, and social media platforms.
• Organise online and in-person events for the department, ensuring seamless execution.
• Create and oversee promotional materials, including brochures, leaflets, and posters for campaigns and events.
• Evaluate communications activities using data-driven methods to improve future strategies.
• Provide tailored communications training and advice to department experts, supported by original materials.
• Ensure all communications align with University branding guidelines and encourage their use.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, providing timely and relevant updates.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for self-directing and leading all of the day to day communications for the department and coordinating/leading a team including internal and digital communications professionals
Selection Criteria:
• Degree or equivalent professional experience in a communications role.
• Proven expertise in print, digital, and social media communications.
• Strong experience in producing effective web content and managing content management systems (e.g., Drupal).
• Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire confidence in senior colleagues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently and prioritize effectively.
• Proficiency with digital tools such as newsletter software and CRM systems.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
