We are seeking an experienced and student-focused Academic Advisor to support student experience, welfare and funding. This role combines programme coordination, student support, policy implementation and stakeholder engagement within a busy academic environment.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be part time 21.9 hrs p/w for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £18.80 per hour + holiday pay
Key Duties:
Student Experience & Events
- Lead and deliver induction and key student events, monitoring budgets and evaluating outcomes
- Manage student progress meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of academic services
- Support and promote equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and student wellbeing initiatives
- Supervise and support junior administrative staff
Student Welfare
- Identify and support students requiring welfare assistance, signposting to appropriate services
- Support processes for disability arrangements and alternative assessments
- Attend welfare meetings and liaise with relevant support services
- Contribute to welfare and equality committees and related activities
Student Funding
- Act as first point of contact for scholarship and funding enquiries
- Manage scholarship and bursary processes, including applications, decisions and reporting
- Coordinate funding payments and ensure compliance with policies
- Advise students on financial support options and assist with applications
- Prepare reports and documentation for committees
Management & Administration
- Line manage and support administrative staff, including development and performance management
- Oversee processes relating to non-student members and ensure compliance with policies
- Respond to enquiries and support communications, including website updates and promotional activity
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Selection Criteria:
- Experience in student services, academic administration or advisory roles
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion
- Experience supporting student welfare and/or funding processes
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment
- Experience supervising or supporting staff development
