About the role

We are seeking a friendly and customer-focused Box Office Assistant to serve as the first point of contact for visitors, delivering excellent service through ticket sales, membership processing, and enquiry handling while supporting smooth front-of-house operations and ensuring a welcoming and accessible experience for all patrons.

The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time (35 hours per week) for 12 weeks (with a pay rate of £14.98  per hour + holiday pay).

Key Responsibilities:

Duties

The Box Office Assistant is the first point of contact for visitors, providing excellent customer service through phone, email, and in-person interactions. This role is responsible for handling ticket sales, processing memberships, and assisting patrons with booking queries, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all.

         Customer Service

  • Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally.
  • Provide accurate information about events, performances, and Centre facilities.
  • Handle inquiries via phone, email, and at the counter with a friendly, solution-oriented approach.

     

    Ticketing

     

  • Assist customers with online and in-person purchases.

     

    Membership Sales & Administration

     

  • Assist and process membership purchases

 

       Operational Support

 

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider Centre team to ensure efficient front-of-house operations.

  • Support accessibility needs of patrons, including arranging special seating or services.

  • Provide Box Office services for evening performances where required.

  •  

    Working Hours

    • Weekdays 1000-1700, weekend and evening work when required.

Selection Criteria:

•             Strong customer service and communication skills.

•             Previous experience in a box office, ticketing, or retail environment desirable

•             Ability to use computerised ticketing systems (training provided).

•             Confident handling card transactions.

•             Organised, reliable, and able to work calmly under pressure.

•             A friendly, welcoming manner with a passion for the arts and customer care.

•             Flexible and adaptable, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

•             Commitment to equality, diversity, and accessibility for all patrons.
