We are seeking an experienced and organised HR Officer to provide comprehensive support across the employee lifecycle. The role combines HR advisory support, recruitment, onboarding, payroll administration and compliance within a busy and professional HR environment.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £16.92 per hour + holiday pay
Key Duties:
- Provide advice and guidance to managers and staff on HR policies, procedures and routine employee matters
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, including PeopleXD and TeamSeer
- Monitor probation, fixed-term contracts, PDRs, annual leave and sickness, highlighting required actions
- Support recruitment activities, including interview panels, contracts and appointment processes
- Manage visa, immigration and right-to-work administration, ensuring accurate records and compliance
- Coordinate new starter onboarding and induction, including pre-employment and Occupational Health checks
- Support formal HR casework, including meeting administration and note-taking
- Process payroll and contractual changes, ensuring accurate funding, statutory compliance and deadlines
- Maintain confidential personnel records in accordance with GDPR and information security requirements
- Produce HR reports and support data management activities
- Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement of processes and procedures
- Provide cover across HR activities and share knowledge and best practice with colleagues
Selection Criteria:
- Previous experience working within an HR team or HR Officer role at the University of Oxford
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Ability to interpret and communicate HR policies and procedures clearly
- Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes
- Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate record keeping
- Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and HR systems
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with commitment to ongoing professional development
